Japan's Elpida begins mass production of DDR2 SDRAMs using 70nm technology

TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Elpida Memory Inc said it has begun mass production of 1-gigabit and 512-megabit DDR2 SDRAMs using 70-nanometer process technology at its main plant in Hiroshima in western Japan.

The company said in a statement that shipments of the computer memory chips will start in the first quarter of 2007.
The chips can be used in appliances such as high-end servers which require processing of large amounts of data, high-performance mobile equipment, high definition digital TVs and next-generation DVD recorders, Elpida said.
